Overview

Problem

Canada’s government and grant funding process is broken:

  • Grant programs are slow, inconsistent, and full of red tape

  • Startups waste hours navigating outdated systems and unclear requirements

  • The best grant writers get funded — not necessarily the best companies

  • Government lacks structured feedback or data to improve programs

This isn’t just frustrating - it’s holding Canadian innovation back.

What is VeriCan

VeriCan is a nonprofit certification platform built by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs.

We’re designing a single, tech-powered application process to replace Canada’s fragmented innovation funding system — starting with NRC IRAP.

With VeriCan, eligible companies can:

  1. Apply once to access all aligned grant programs

  2. Get verified against clear criteria

  3. Receive structured feedback and transparent tracking

  4. Save time, reduce confusion, and focus on building

Governments benefit too: VeriCan provides structured, anonymized data on application outcomes to help improve public programs.

Why Sign the Pledge

This isn’t just another idea, it’s already moving. We’re working on a pilot certification for NRC IRAP with support from the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and meeting with policy leaders to drive adoption.

But to make this real, we need one thing:

Your support.

We’re collecting public pledges from founders, operators, and tech leaders to show that Canada’s innovation economy wants this.

The more signatures we gather, the stronger our voice becomes when we meet with policymakers.
